    Hello joomla experts,

I wanted to install joomla 1.5.9 by first extracting all the files on my harddisk and then copying them to a subpage of my root.

when i type site.com/administrator or just site.com I get the message:

I googled around and found only one tutorial where I should also create an empty configuration.php file which I did. I gave that file full rights (777) and the htaccess is disabled (enabling it with ".htaccess" didnt solve the problem)

I really dont know what do to next, as I simply cannot find any help concerning this basic problem.

Anyone out there who knows what to do?

Thanks very much for everyone in advance.

Yea the joomla forum gives great support, maybe i can help.
Can you acces your site normally ?

You first have to use the joomla installer after you upload it on your host, may sound silly but I didn't read in your post that you used the installer.

Also i once had these kinds of errors when i used JCE editor, when i switched back to normal TinyMCE the internal error went away.

when i access my site the index.php is programmed in a way that the installer is automatically opened.
but it nonetheless didnt work. i now have tried to use joomla 1.0.15, there these problems do not occur. only when i want to make some changes and save them, the same 500 internal server error appears.
what exactly are you referring to?

    thanks for participating.

Check the error logs of your site. You will get some more details and the cause for 500 internal error.

Hmm JCE editor is an extension for Joomla, by default TinyMCE is the wsisyg editor.
But i guess that is not the problem then.
