If accepted by W3C and you provide a testimonial, you get on on their do-follow PR8 webiste. Additionally you would rotate in with all the other testimonial providers and receive a do-follow link from their do-follow PR10 homepage. Membership for certain countries such as Indian, membership is only $1,905 (roughly $160 a month). What is the going rate for a Pr8 and possible Pr10 link these days? Thanks in adavnce?
Other than having an authoritative link pointing back to your Web site, WHY would you want to join the W3C? What would you do within the organization? How would you advance the evolution of open Web standards?
A good friend of mine is a member. It lets him create PR5/6 sites easily. He sells those for almost $10G. Worth it.
Oh really? What's his name? I'd love to see him get kicked out for violating their rules. No, seriously. I would.
You DO realize that you're recommending that the thread starter SPAM the W3C and its Web site, right?
I never said that I would start SPAMING W3C, I just asked if it was a wise business decision to invest in W3C membership to assist the online presences of my companies. I never said I was going to start selling links to outsiders. I mean what is the difference between paying for this and the Yahoo directory besides the costs?
The W3C is not a directory. It's a collaborative volunteer effort that works on multiple markup and styling specifications. If you're going to become a paying W3C member, you're going to be given work to do on one of its various committes and Working Groups.
Thanks Dan for your advice, this sounds perfect for one our companies. Being assign a responsibility by one of the various committees and work group will allow our design company to get even more exposure and authority among the "big boys."
