It does feel good! Just logged into CB and saw my first sale yesterday! Woooo. At least it has not been all for nothing. I worked real hard the first 3 weeks of january and have honestly just sit back and let the campaigns run on autopilot a bit. Probably why this is my first sale, but in all honesty I only generate a hop every couple days, and have between 2-5 visits per day. I will have to check my total stats but I would guess I got a sale with less than 100 hops total. Not bad, I just need to figure out a way to scale traffic up. I am just not sold on article marketing. It seems so spammy/scammy and a lot of work. I went the CPC route, although not through google, as some of my other posts have alluded to, I am no longer a fan of adwords. Major problems. Anyone have any suggestions for generating some traffic? I have gone the blog mixed with landing pages route. I am open ears....
Nothing like the feeling of your first sale, now all you need to do is scale things up and oh theres nothing wrong with article markerting and if you find it boring just pay someone $3 or so for an article.
Congratulations on the first sale Articles are only as spammy as you make them... I think it depends on what you want from your articles, if you only want backlinks then I think you can let the quality drop a little, if you want actual traffic then write them better, but I never suggest spending hours on them and making them perfect... My scale is that imo the content on my actual websites is always totally unique and handwritten by me and imo is a 10/10 on my quality scale. For articles I drop the quality to 8/10 and write them faster. Then for backlinking then I drop the quality right down to 5or6/10, and use spun articles and fire them to lots of different places. For these backlinking 5/10 quality articles there is no way I would have them on my main site, but does it matter if they are a bit poorer quality if people aren't really going to see / read them.. .if theyre just going to be hidden on the depths of the Internet a bit and get me backlinks then I am ok with that.. some arn't but it works for me..
@submp3 That makes sense.. thanks! I guess that is why I have that feeling about article marketing. I have always seen the articles on EZine and Articlesbase etc... as just such poor quality, almost as if the person didn't even speak english. I agree completely that on my site I only want high quality articles. I just couldn't see spending any time at all on the 5/10 quality articles to be posted around for backlinks. I have read up a little on the auto-spinner sites/software but just the task of inserting the brackets and word lists for the spinner to work seemed like to much of a hassle to me and again, time consuming. Ideally I would pay for articles but working on a shoe string budget would have to make some more sales and then reinvest some of the money generated into some new articles. Thanks for the comparison
Wow, I have done nothing/changed nothing on my landing page, and after generating no sales for 2 months, it generates 2 in a week. Anyone else have a similar experience? I have read several people on forums saying that after several months all of a sudden their clickbank account started generating sales. I am generating the same, or possibly LESS traffic than I did when I eagerly started out in January. Thoughts?
congrats mate , you can make more sale in the future only a question , you promoted a product or several products ? with landingpage or direct linking ? good luck.
I have only promoted a single product with a single landing page at this point. I did however structure a blog with 4 or 5 articles around the landing page and integrated it into the site navigation. All traffic has been PPC directed to the landing page.
Good work my man. A first sale online only validates your good work and persistence. Best wishes to your future.
Here is another oddity for any of you out there... I show a sale for today, but 0 hops, 0 sales form submits, and I think I have given the analytics time to catch up
Congratulations. I've yet to try my hand at PPC, but I've heard some good things about MSN adCenter. I guess if you're still using IE and MSN as your defaults, you're probably susceptible to advertisements.
^ It means someone that you cookied up to 59 days ago returned and bought directly from your vendor. Happens all the time Congrats on popping your cherry!
LOL all the excitement crushed! Sale #1 was returned yesterday. Oh well at least I made sale #3 today. So odd that they just started coming out of nowhere
Shame about the first return but well done on 3! Looks like it is working then and you have a product people want to buy.
Everyone hates refunds. Anyways congrats on your first few sales.I remember when I was struggling to make a decent income with clickbank, it seemed impossible however it isn't if you have the patience required and the right tools. Stick to one niche that you find most profitable. Al.
congrats !!!!! still artilce marketing is the best to make sales for me. i also get few sales from my blogs but the biggest sales come from the top article directories and the conversion rates from article marketing is much higher (i dont need to wait for 100 hops for 1 sale) because is targeted fraffic.
if you aren't a writer, outsource when you can. don't waste time doing something you're not good at. focus on submissions, seo and all that. if you're into adwords, spending your time tweaking your ads to perfection would be a better use of your time. my two cents anyway.
@Azure thanks! I have been following your thread too and congrats to you as well. I picked one of the highest gravity products in one of the most competitive niches on purpose to see if I could do it. I wanted to try something I knew people were buying and see if my skills as a developer/designer and a writer could help me make some sales despite being new and having way less experience. I guess so far it has worked, but the good thing is, just getting off my ass and actually trying something has helped me get a bunch of ideas in my head I want to try out.
Thanks TC. Have to admit I am wondering where the 2nd sale will come from! Am getting a few hops form my articles to my site but not enough to get sales I think. i do enjoy writing articles so that is not a problem but it would be nice to see some regular sales and more traffic. Guess you have to start somewhere... Interesting idea on the high gravity product, don't think I have many of particularly high gravity in my niche but am starting to veer to other niches...!
Well there was a good lul in activity after that 3rd sale, but the 4th sale occured today. I am looking into outsourcing some articles being written. Does anyone have suggestions on the best places to find good and cheap article writers? I have contacted 1 person I found in the copywriting section of this forum. Where else are good resources?
