Aww, I think somebody's jealous. Really though, why make baseless accusations? And I find it hard to believe you actually think there are 0 "success stories" on the internet.
LOL, I would never go for John Chow's $400 review! Sure he's a successful blogger but he has nowhere near the credibility of reviewing MY blog. It's my blog dude, I don't want you to review and come up with 1000 reasons of why it's good/bad.
I am with TeachCrunch... all he do is recycle other's work and bloat how much he made. I have yet see something original from him. but that's good. I rather have more idiot listen to him so i have much less competition There are success story, but they won't share...why would they waste their time for your sorry ass who are making 5 buck a month?
well, if you are looking for a honest review, come there. if its negative, it can help you optimize your blog/site/product.. for example, if you create some software to do seo, etc. i think a review at johnchow will be usefull for u..
Let's do the math on this. Say 10,000 people read his post. that's like $40 per 1,000 just to get the word out. That's not exactly cheap. What if it got to 100,000, well I don't think he has that much traffic, but that's just a guesstimate. I doubt the ROI on a paid review to John Chow is worth it, but what do I know?
Listen, many of the people browsing his site are webmasters and affiliate marketers, let's say 20% are regular joes. From that 20%, how many would actually get to your site and perform an action? Maybe .02%? So, the review is basically for yourself and to add a little boost to your site. But, if your offering webmaster services or writing a blog around the topic, it will help you big time for long term traffic.
I think a paid review in johnchow is worth only if you have a high CTR product very affiliate / webmaster related. Advertising a blog for $400 is just wasting money. The Million dollar wiki did a good move there, but it should have waited a little more, maybe someone like Seth Godin could have written something about him for free. Even so, I think that John Chow is getting too greedy about his blog. In the past he reviewed far more good sites for free, now 90% of his reviews and posts are paid. Good for him tho, he's making a lot of money =)
I reckon you should get $400 worth of reviews on smaller blogs that way you'll get more links and if you want opinions you'll get more of them aswell.
Is this the same John Chow who disappeared off of Google? You can surely come up with better ways, and more rewarding, to spend $400 on promoting your business than that.
Is not about how many links but who reviews them. If matt cutts said in his blog that, for example, an ebook he found in this forums is very good, millions of copies would be sold even if the book is crap. People has it's own "PR", and "PR" of John Chow is very high, so that's why people keep spending on reviews.
I made up a new creative for John Chow's Review Me offer. For $400 you should at least get hand release, if you know what I mean
I'm not his fan and I don't like what he's doing with the blog. I meant to be sarcastic with the last post, because most of the people who pay for reviews get their image and consequently their self esteem destroyed because they spend $400 while spending $0 on design and quality, and the "I will make you rich" is because He's always saying How GOOOOOOOOOOD and how GREEEEEEAT are the results of his reviews on their clients so more people buy reviews.
I think the OP was talking about someone who review JC sites and then get a backlink on his website... i did that and it did nothing for me!!! JC i heard got booted off from Google for that... though he is still PR 6.
He lost his ranking for the term make money online but the SERPS are always changing some day's my site ranks for certain keywords and others it doesn't. I don't think theres any proof Googles not happy his site unless his PR bar goes grey.
and Greed leads to.............you know what right. At some stage, people are gonna get fed up with useless paid reviews. Who want to read about a nanny making $100 online with her website and john giving some advice on how she should be dressed up to advertise her blog. lol
The PR is not updated so you see a old PR. The boot off is indeed valid and true. Just wait for the Pr update so its more official, he might be loosing it to 5 or 4
