This video is from back during the Republican primary race.

The candidates are asked, Do you use a Mac or PC?

    http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1884558/6206369

Does McCain need his staff to print out everything for him :) Sorry to bring up his age but I think even the senior Senator from West Virginia Robert Byrd (90 Years Old) uses a computer...

LOL @ the title of this thread. Between McCain not knowing how to use a computer and Bush going on about "the internets" that is a hell of a forward thinking bunch of dudes who don't have a clue about where the economy and opportunity are going.

Decent chance then that they will keep their grubby hands off of our internets.

I think just the opposite. Many older folks who don't understand the positive aspects of the internet and computers are paranoid of them and would like to meddle with and regulate the internet.

Out of any of them the most likely would be Ron Paul.

Nah. I don't think so. It's the folks who think the internet is a "series of tubes" that are against net neutrality and for letting big corps control the internet.

Ron Paul is against Net Neutrality. It's about the principle of freedom.

I have a question for you: When a state attorney general gathers those big corps together and negotiates a deal that goes against the concept of net nuetrality, is that the corporation or the governments' doing?

I think these sort of cartel-like agreements to cut off large sections of the internet to spite a few offending groups might be illegal and subject to anti-trust suits without government intervention.

Online poker should be legal of course, I agree with Paul on that issue. I don't really see how that's related to the subject of net neutrality though. I think Paul is wrong on net neutrality. Without it big corporations will try to control the internet in a way that forces out the little guy. I mean for those of us who earn our livings online as "the little guy" this is a HUGE deal.

Google's "Guide to Net Neutrality": "Network neutrality is the principle that Internet users should be in control of what content they view and what applications they use on the Internet. The Internet has operated according to this neutrality principle since its earliest days... Fundamentally, net neutrality is about equal access to the Internet. In our view, the broadband carriers should not be permitted to use their market power to discriminate against competing applications or content. Just as telephone companies are not permitted to tell consumers who they can call or what they can say, broadband carriers should not be allowed to use their market power to control activity online."

No. I have been doing business online for years. But it matters to everyone, commercial interest or not.

Net Neutrality establishes that the government can create price and quality controls on the internet.

You're absolutely missing what korr mentioned. Government is the one who codifies corporate belligerence and exploitation by regulation.

So called "liberals" never "get it".

More regulations means it will be much harder for new entrants to come into the market and compete. It actually hurts the little guy and reduces not only choice, but the creation of services and price tiers which accommodate those with less means.

We need more choices, more competition and more service providers, not less. This will merely reinforce the already dominant corporatism that we see in all other media and entertainment industries.

Regulating the internet reminds of something I saw on SNL years ago.

Gotta save the old people from porn and email scams! On the other hand, internet crime is getting pretty crazy. We probably could use some better control mechanisms, but since we can't control our borders I think leaving the internet alone until we get some of our more important messes cleaned up is the wise thing to do. And after all, curbing internet crime is one of the slogans not one of the goals. Maybe we should elect a programmer for Pres :D
