Job Site

Hey guys, my current project - going to play with it a while and maybe look to sell in a month or two. I could use some reviews! This is a job board focused in on high paying jobs in fort mcmurray, Canada. Also, I am struggling to understand why I haven't seen the search traffic I was expecting. The keyword "fort jobs" in google keyword tool is showing 500,000-1,000,000 monthly searches. The site has been floating between 2nd-5th place for a week or two on google, and first on yahoo for a while.

The main menu at the left side of the site should be bigger than the Google ads. Other than that, its really good. All the best....

I would try to target some longer tail keywords first and add canada/ ca into the title tags and throughout your website. So target fort jobs ca or fort jobs canada. It will not be easy to outrank the sites at number one, but is possible with time and hard work. Start building relevant backlinks to your site over time and you should see your rankings improve. Have you checked if you are even indexed for the keyword "fort jobs" in the different search engines?

i wouldn't say its great, not a bad site but some of the text for some could be hard to read, maybe a better logo/header.

 

Keith115, which text do you mean? Yes, the banner sucks! I dont have the patience to make anything in Photoshop anymore, so I used some online banner maker. Please be more specific though, which text needs fixing?

Well, the site has been up about 3 weeks, and so far I've had about 1400 unique visitors - of those 1400 only about 200 have been from the search engines. Search taffic is pretty low, much lower than 200 hits actually - as most of the searches are for "fortjobs.ca". This is a result of me placing kijiji ads requesting that people "check out fortjobs.ca". Ive had a few organic hits from google/yahoo/bing, but the numbers are much lower than I was hoping for. The click conversion isnt bad, about 2.5% on the google ads. Theyre high competition keywords, so its earning a fairly decent revenue.

 

Actually, the search number for the phrase "fort jobs" is only 1 900 a month. Don't expect too much.

 

Its a really a good concept and nice domain name , you should do some seo for your site to make it popular

 

I suspected it wasnt quite as high as I thought. How did you come up with that number? Google keywords tool keeps telling me 1.5 million, 500k local :S
