Video Based Virtual Career Fair Coming June 17th (Chicago, IL) – The way Americans are searching for jobs in a difficult economy is rapidly changing. New technologies such as social media, video resumes, and virtual career fairs have quickly begun to dominate the recruiting landscape.

A leader in new recruitment technology, Job Search Television Network (JSTN) (http://www.myjstn.com/) just introduced another innovation: a new virtual job fair technology that combines all of these three technology trends.

In a Virtual Career Fair to be held Thursday, June 17th, from 4 to 8 pm EST and 3 to 7 pm CST applicants will be able to make a "20-second Video Introductionâ„¢" and send it to recruiters.

The Virtual Career Fair is free, and sign up is available now at http://vcf.myjstn.com/ for the event and updates. Several national companies are participating.

In addition to candidate videos, companies participating in the event will use social media sites such as LinkedIn® and Facebook® to promote the event. The social network
    JSTN's Virtual Career Fair allows
job seekers to meet with recruiters "face to face" using video chat technology.
promotion will enable companies to reach specific audiences of candidates they are looking for in terms of education, skills, experience, and more.

“This idea of using social media to achieve ‘referral recruiting’ is taking off right now,” said Lindsay Stanton, JSTN Senior Vice President of Sales and Strategy. “It allows companies to target their outreach efforts more effectively and quickly find candidates that more closely meet their needs.”

Stanton also noted that the Virtual Career Fair allows companies to meet with candidates “face to face” in a fun venue that’s both highly cost effective and a huge time saver for recruiters.

JSTN began broadcasting on cable television in Chicago in 2008, and now is seen in several major cities across the country including the Boston and San Francisco regions. The channel uses a "CNN-type" format with an anchor to provide 60-second job reports that people can TEXT ID to their cell phone. It is also on line at http://www.myjstn.com/ where candidates can search videos on both job openings and company profiles. The videos created for companies can then be placed on any social media site or Internet job board.

Beyond offering job openings and company information, JSTN has also created www.PowerMyCareer.com in cooperation with some of the nation’s largest career management and coaching firms. The site is a wealth of information for people entering the job market. Power My Career offers a wide array of expert career advice ranging from how to interview successfully to writing e-mails with proper business etiquette.
