Nobody in their right mind would bid on the keyword jewelry. Not only is it extremely general but, yes, very costly (so I assume). If you were thinking of bidding on the term, don't. Be far, far more specific with the keywords you choose.
Aye, Pointless to pay for useless keywords like Jewelery. Get more targeted keywords. Specific kinds of jewelery.
Jewelry is a very expensive market. I set up a campaign a couple of years ago for high end designer jewelry and I don't remember exactly what bids were but they were quite expensive. The people I set it up for had money. If I were selling jewelry on a small budget I would try really obscure and very specific keywords. I would also focus more on free traffic through link building, seo, article marketing etc.
Thanks for all those responses. Everybody is talking about using specific keywords. Can anybody tell me a perfect keyword tool.
Jewelry keywords tend to be very expensive, and have high CPOs for the following two reasons: * Jewelry items can be very high in price * The majority of buyers will not purchase jewelry online, without seeing it in person It's not worth it, for the most part.
I don't know about a perfect keyword tool but a good free one is - good keywords. Google Adwords own keyword tool is pretty good also.
Every account we acquire (usually from other agencies) has this issue. Bidding on SINGLE KEYWORDS. We like to impress our new clients by going through their account and deleting single keywords raising their ROI by a few hundred percent in the first day. What does that tell you? When you are searching for a ring for your lady (or whatever) what do YOU type into search engines? I doubt it's "jewelery" .
