Really makes a difference what the quality of those links are. If it's all Coop links, or something like that, it shouldn't be too difficult to replicate.

Well i have sites with over 50000 backlinks, but 90% of them come from the same site. If a dynamic site has like 30000 different pages and a static menu on the left with a link to a site, that counts as 30000 backlinks because the link is on every single page. Thats how yahoo shows it to me anyway. Correct me if i'm wrong.

definitely, sitewide links can really boost the number of listed backlinks but it's not necessarily going to help the rankings. i think one of my sites has thousands of backlinks from one site and other than that site there are something like 700 backlinks.

If the links are on Yahoo then he may just have a sitewide link on a big site. The best thing is to just email all the sites he has links from and buy your way onto them.

PR means diddley squat. I have seen links show up on google and give an extra boost and have a pr zero. there are alot many other factors that determine a links relevance to the search engines.

My site ranks higher in google for a competitive keyphrase over sites with over a million backlinks. I only have about 3,000 so it does depend on where those 18,000 links are coming from. Don't be intimidated, just keep moving forward obtaining links and you may be surprised. Also, I wouldn't recommend getting too many links too fast, that may hurt you.

Wow! 18,000 is a lot of links. I agree with pingpong though the PR doesn't mean diddly. You can exchange links with the click of your mouse at my site!

Judging by one of your other posts that your niche has very few competitors Turhapuro you should be able to overcome the 18K links site with some good SEO. You will need many links, but if there is little competition it will be easier than some of the more competitive keywords

Yeah, but Jesus would give some of those links away.

he'd pass the link-plate and there'd be enough linkfish to go around for thousands of webmaster-disciples =)
