Hey Jenny: I have to agree w/ BlogAboutNothin' - I can't see ppl linking back to you because you found some misspelled words - but I do love the attitude of thinking outside of the box.
This is a fantastic thread - the most useful I've seen on DP for a while. Rep added. I'd also like to echo tanay46's request - I also have a recipe site I'm trying to build links for Thanks
thanx for the kind comments ok sorry not updated in a while, plenty more tips on the way and keep the requests coming in. Since ive had a few recipe site requests il have a go at this. These are only quick off the top of my head ideas so feel free to PM me for further info. Maybe try some "list" posts. "top 10 meals with the most calories" or "top 5 strangest foods" these sort of posts attract lots of links. Have a look at some food specific social network sites like http://www.grouprecipes.com/ http://www.bakespace.com/ http://www.foodcandy.com/ great places to make contacts with people in your niche. Bake/buy some cheap cakes, send them to food bloggers and you might get a thank you with a link Do something crazy and twitter/blog about it in a a diary form, (eat just cheese for a week) something like that or(eat only red food) people like odd stuff like that and will blog about it with links back to you.
For a recipes site, you might also try simply e-mailing some of the more 'famous' bloggers or even YouTubers and getting their favorite recipes.. Good chance they may mention your site in return! I know it's your thread, Jenny, but I just thought I might chime in if you don't mind
nice idea I would look at doing that but then posting these recipes on your site and publicising it through social media to get links, make it sort a quirky.
Ok I used Xenu and found a dosen broken links on website that I want to link to. Should I email them? What should I say to them? How should I politely ask them for a link?
Jenny, these are some pretty good examples of thinking outside the box. I like to see SEO consultants who are not just doing the same old thing that every other SEO consultant does.
great this is a nice way of getting backlinks most decent people would appreciate the help you are giving them and in return hey thank you with a backlink.
thank you again. My next tip Go local! Use twitter, facebook, local searches to find people in your area. I have found that your more than twice as likely to get links from people who live near you. Look for local authority sites as they hold a lot of trust and can offer some great links. Use facebook and twitter to find people in your area and start contacting them, see if they have a links section just for local sites. Even friends who have sites, bug them till they link to you
How do you just randomly email 4,000 sites without being in violation of can spam act? Seems to me one would spend quite a bit of money just researching the 4,000 email addresses. Might work for your own site.... but I don't see many of my clients allowing that to happen.
Theres nothing random about it. From say a first list of 1000 sites then we would then narrow that down to around 100 depending on the quality of the sites, find a name, a hook and then email.
Best linkbuilding thread I've seen anywhere in a long time. Congrats jenny1985 keep up the great work.
Content is king , Unique is ...find me an adjective ^^ thanks Jenny for this thread (I'm looking for bookmark button ^^) just pm you , but about your othrt thread .. thanks a lot
Unique is "rightful" Unique Content = Rightful King ;-) as opposed to an imposter. Does that work, Toon-c?
