Jayde directory instead of DMOZ are they equal?

Recently I was hip deep into looking for the best way into DMOZ. Everyone on this forum as well as every other forum I asked on informed me that I was wasting my time. So I inquired about the other directories of equal size or equal strength in SERPS as DMOZ. One reply told me to use JAYDE.com, so I did. It was very easy to get listed, but:
1 - Is it really as helpful as DMOZ?
2 - They offered me a link submission tool to use for free, is it waise to use this tool?

I have heard that it is never a good idea to use these things, because SE's think of you as spam then. Is that the case, even with Jayde.com?

Jayde is good. You get approved there in a matter of days.

    Jayde is good no doubt!
but to say Jayde is as good as DMoz would be unfair!

They dont really compare and plus they are both free. Submit to them and then move on in your life. Wasting time on some directories is a waste of time.

SEOwise, I'd say DMOZ is stronger. Its listings tend to get used more than Jayde. Plus as Malcom discovered, getting listed in Jayde gets you placed on several newsletter lists. I've never been spammed by DMOZ.

    No way...

Submit a link to Jayde and see how many email you get within a month and try to unsubscribe from their network ;)

Jayde might be as strong as DMOZ but does Google gives Jayde more importance or DMOZ? Its obviously DMOZ since its a comprehensive directory, unlimited categroies and the biggest of all Google Directory is using its listings and categories too!!!

That is why DMOZ is far better than Jayde cos Google Loves DMOZ!

I don't like Jayde, because of the numbers of newsletters they send. So if you do decide to submit to them, kiss that mailbox goodbye.
