JavaScript (javascript:newWin) Links Pass Link Juice?

I read a few articles here and other forums about javascript and its effectiveness in SEO. Those articles didn't specifically address the javascript below (or maybe it did but I was unable to understand).

Do you know if the following link will pass any link juice or is seo-friendly?
    < a href="javascript:newWin('http://www.somewebsite.com/')" target="_self" >some anchor< /a>

If so, is it strong? Does anyone have any experience using these links?

I appreciate comments that helps address this issue. Thank you!

Above is an interesting break down of seo and javascript. Whilst it does not address your situation specifically, it does elaborate on the use of javascript as an option for building links.

Apparently the above link shows a better way of using javascript to do what you want, mainly because using javascript with seo is a grey area.

    Again I could be wrong.

From my understanding, and I could be wrong,
