I posted here and at a few other sites a few months ago about a particular photo treatment I saw at trincheronapavalley.com (a Flash site I'm pretty sure). I know almost nothing about web development and am designing a website for my K-8 school (I'm decent with Photoshop). At trinchero they use at least two different effects: EFFECT 1. On the home page photos slide from right to left. The next image in line is dimmed, then it moves into position (still dimmed) and THEN it quickly fades in. EFFECT 2. On the WINERY page there is a text-photo correlation - the next photo in the sequence is also dimmed, but it actually starts to fade in AS IT SLIDES into position and becomes fully lit within a fraction of a second after it hits its final position. When I posted at several sites I got responses saying yes, these effects can be done with Javascript or Javascript and Ajax (again, keep in mind I don't know web development so I may say things wrong). I recently got with a web developer who said, no, this EXACT effect CAN'T be done with Javascript. Yes, you can have a main photo window which is lit up and the next photo to the right of it which is dimmed. And yes, you can have the photos slide from right to left. But, he says, there is no practical, smooth way to get that same Flash effect where 1) a dimmed photo moves into position and THEN quickly fades in, or 2) a dimmed next photo fades in AS IT SLIDES INTO POSITION. So, please, someone straighten me out. If Flash is the only way to get this effect I would like to know now. (My understanding is that Flash development is quite a bit more expensive.) Is there any way to do effect #1 or effect #2 without the use of Flash, and have it be as smooth and seamless as the Flash effect? All comments greatly appreciated.
its a custom design by http://www.finedesigngroup.com/ and yes it's flash. You can contact them and explain your situation.
