    Hi

Have over the last year or so been getting batches of hits from something calling itself Java1.x.x

I have had a look on the web and other forums and there just is nothing about it anywhere.

Any of you guys n gals got an idea what this thing is?

P.S. User-agent: Java1.x.x Disallow: / in Robots.txt does not work ion it

If you are seeing many hits in a row - especially in a forum - it is either a spam bot looking for e-mail addresses or a scraper.

Ban the IP in your .htaccess file.

But be careful - if you are podcasting I think the call from iTunes looking for your updates is very similar - but - it will ask for a single url normally.

To do a reality check, get the ip (resolve it if need be) and google search it for appearing on a page.

When you see hits about it being banned - or references to it at project honey pot - ban the ip - well - I do anyway.
