One of my fellow developers, is Java and .Net developer. He mostly uses C# these ays, and says Java is mostly being used for Micro Controllers for Devices and for server-end applications, specifically video/audio connferencing.

Yes there is definitely a good demand of professional Java Developers in top MNC as they are always trying get some new things and new products. They are having good packages in India as well.

Java is mostly used by TOP MNC's only. Small companies can't afford it..

C# is having better career opportunity nowadays and you can find more companies working on .NET framework than Java.

The biggest reason I see Java developers shifting to C# is may be .Net also almost cross-platform now, and has more than Java for Desktop Application Development.

In the industry I work in Java/J2EE/Linux are the primary programming environments; however, over the last six months or so there has been a small movement towards .NET. Not big but a small shift.
