java menu - not collapsing on startup

i can't seem to figure out how to make this menu start out collapsed. i played around with almost every variable that had the words collapse and expand to no avail. can anyone help me out? currently, when i go into the page, the menu starts out expanded and im trying to make it start out collapsed. heres the code:
