Java incompatibility

Due to other software on my machine, I was forced to upgrade my Java to the latest version. I noticed some idiosyncrasies within OptiGold (billing errors, undefined Credit Card transaction errors mostly) after the upgrade. Is OG fully compatible with the latest version of Java?

I think certain gateways (most notably Authorize.Net) do not work with the JRE 1.4 or 1.5.

So by your implication, OG has no known problems with the latest version of the JRE? I just want to be clear.

You could try it. The worst that could happen is you would want to install an older version. But if there is an issue, the only thing I can think of would be with credit card processing, so you would know right away.

My boss figured out the problem, here's his finding and a fix:

SBC's CPSOS application forced a change to JRE 1.4.2_06 and optigold runs fine with it. Just UNINSTALL your previous version and then install the new version. You'll have to close optigold when doing it though.

Contact SBC's toolbar if you need help installing JAVA because this is their fault and I don't really think Shawn will put up with more than just this post on the subject since I can confirm Optigold runs fine with other versions of the JRE

    sun' download: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_06/index.html

I also would recommend if you keep a location for employees to install opti/filemaker from (as we do) to update the java version listed for installation.
