I am not sure our moderator will leave this post alone or delete it, but I hope he/she will leave it.

I know this tread a little bit late, but if any Japanese in Japan reading this.... I really don't know what to say to your people who hunt the whales...

Recently, I got to see some of the hunting pictures of the recent Japanese WHALE HUNTING TRIP to catch some of the endangered whales in the name of science.... yeah right! I bet the fish already been served in sushi bars...

I bet they could find other thing to eat... some poisoness fish or something which they used to eat.

It was so cruel to see the beautiful and peaces full giants to be speared and killed.

    PLEASE LEAVE THE WHALES ALONE!!!!

Yea it's messed up isn't it - I don't know why my country does that. I personally have never seen whales being served in sushi bars, or anywhere else besides restaurants where they specifically serve whales for that matter, so I'm left to wonder who eats em. Maybe they do in the countryside huh I dunno I grew up in Tokyo. I mean whales! They don't even look appetizing! lol

Anyways, I'll ask my fellow Japanese buddies to leave the whales alone and stop hunting them.

May I also add to this post and ask people to please stop eating meat. It's so depressing to think that cows and pigs, and a whole bunch of other animals are born into this world for the sole purpose of having their heads beaten, chopped up, packed, and sold in markets for us to eat. NOT COOL!

Veggies, people!! You can live on veggies!! though yes, I know those are living organisms too, and while they don't talk or move around being all cute and beautiful, they are alive. But I try not to think about that cause if I do I'd have nothing to eat lol.

So I'm gonna be a hypocrite and denounce hunting animals (whales and others) and continue my vegetarian lifestyle.

Like I said before, I'm against killing & whales, along with all other animals.

That being said, can someone tell me why WHALES is the big problem in the world? I'm genuinely curious.

For example, Hillord, I see you're in Singapore, where they eat turtles, shark fins, and pig intestines. To me, putting turtles in soup, or killing sharks for their fins is just as cruel as killing and eating whales.

I'm not attacking anyone here - I'm just wondering what the big difference is between whales and other animals.

That's because there are not that many whales left and it's best to conserve them as much as possible. eating turtles and sharks are equally as troublesome as whale-eating of course. The list could really go on where people eat animals that are not supposed to be eaten.

Yes it's better if we'd just eat vegetables and not slaughter any animals at all. But then, that's a fact of life. Humans are omnivores and not everyone appreciates the taste of vegetables as much as fried chicken or tenderloin steak. There are animals that are for eating and animals that should be left alone. Whales, turtles, and sharks (although sharks are just so scary to me) are just a few of these animals.

    nice assumptions

you do know that we cant just leave endangered species out there and let them die or attacked by other predators.
Endangered means they now have less population and to animal nature, to be protective and secure they either need to be in groups or young and strong or strong.
Endangered species are less productive due to scarce and less chance of
finding own kind to mate with.

Thus it is anyone's duty to save them and give them place where they can reproduce and their species to live longer.
Stereotyping in this case is not necessary.

whales being served in sushi bars... i eat sushi and thought that sushi was just fish. Japanese people do not really eat whale meat i have had whale before and its rather nice... Also you do know its part of the country's culture? Also they catch them to study the sea life, to understand and help more. if you had to kill 200 new born babys in order to save every baby ever born would you do it? Also every one is against animal testing yet if we did not test on animals who would we test on?

    *looking for a debate here*

Whale hunting...now there's another reason to relive Hiroshima. I'm all for it if they continue hunting whales, regardless who the fuck says it's okay.

Once I again, I oppose whale hunting in my country. That being said, maybe we should all try not to generalize here -

As you all know, not all of us Japanese folks hunt whales. It's not like we go whale hunting on weekends, surround a table butchering it while having sake and f*ck!ng geishas. I agree with the protesting, but don't you think it should be directed to the right ppl?

Guys who're posting here who're opposed to this like I am, you should write to the Japan Whaling Association like I have. http://www.whaling.jp/english/index.html

That'll help the cause more for us, and for the poor whales. You'll probably make a bigger difference that way than voicing your opposition on a webmaster's forum.

Saying "Japanese, stop killing whales" is like saying "Americans, stop imprisoning innocent Muslims in secret detainment centers" or "Chinese, stop eating dogs" or "Muslims, stop blowing up buildings" or "Romanians, stop selling your children." etc etc

Just because a select group of people from a country decide to do something doesn't mean the entire nation does the same.
