Jagger 3 - happening now on some DC's?

Discussion in 'Google' started by dkalweit, Oct 31, 2005.

I'm seeing what looks like it might be jagger 3 on 66.102.9.104. I've been loyally following the position of one keyword that fell from #3 to #6 in Jagger1, and is now at #1 on this DC(which it held about 8 months ago-- far before Jagger). Others in Matt Cutt's blog comments are reporting seeing some changes, as well. I'm seeing very small movements for terms other than the one above-- maybe they're still being updated. Anyone else?

Yes, I've been monitoring this data center for over 12 hours now. I don't know whether it is Jagger 3 or if it's simply major continuing flux from Jagger 2. Certainly the changes taking place there and on 66.102.9.99 are the biggest I've seen in the last couple of weeks. On the face of it, it looks good for me, but there are many people on other forums who are unhappy with the changes taking place.

Hmm... a few sites of mine have gone to #1, some back to first page, but a bunch still non existant (that used to rank well before the 1st jagger)... If this is how it stays then hopefully those new #1's will get enough traffic to make up for the others, but I doubt it :(

I've noticed I now rank for 1 of the keywords Im tracking, but not promoting. This is promising because I've been in the sandbox.

On these Datacenters 66.102.11.* & 66.102.9.* I jumped from #508 this morning to #102 now.

All the rest of the Datacenters the page was in the 20s.

    My pre-Jagger position was #12

Those results are weird. I've got two pages (formerly both no1 for their term). Like this:

    http://www.mysite.com/keyword-one.htm
    http://www.mysite.com/keyword-two.htm

Neither ranks in the top 500 for the terms they are targetting. However, and this is the really dumb bit. The keyword-one.htm document is ranking in the mid 60's for keyword-two. And keyword-two.htm document is ranking in the mid 80's for the keyword-one. The only reason I can think that this is the case is that the pages link to each other. So the keyword-one text on the keyword-two page is enough to rank the page for keyword-one. Bizarre in the extreme. And yet the pages which are quite well structured and informative are not able to rank at all for the terms they are targetting.

Rather mixed results for me on the DCs with the new SERPs. One of my sites has returned to its former rank of #5. But another which was #7 has now disappeared from the top 100.

What bothers me most is that G is all over the place for weeks. I can not believe that they are unable to change the algo on a 'test' database, get it straightened out and then update the real database over a couple of days.

It almost seems as they they need to measure click throughs on changed SERPs to determine which sites are most (and least) effected. In my business, I couldn't roll out 3 different versions of our software in as many weeks and then decide which one we'll stick with. My customers would leave immediately.

On that DC it shows that I went up again from number 3 to number 1....

This is sweet...Google loves me :) ... But Google is one filthy whore
So I will work on building a clientel rather then focus on SE rankings...Don't ever want to live at the barrel of the gun...

What's amazing is that most of the internet users in the world have no idea this is going on.

Agreed, it's bizarre when you think about it. I just explained it to my mother over an instant message (it's cool to have a computer-hip mom, by the way) and she was truly amazed by the process. She understands why it's important though, when I'm away from the computer for a few days she activates my keyword tracker for me so I have historical data.

I have been looking at many different product searches and none of them seem to be very good, too many non shopping sites for product searches.

In addition to the 66.102.11.x 66.102.9.x
I'm seeing what appears to be jagger 3 on the following.
    216.239.59.99
    216.239.59.104
