we continue to get BL's - once the age of the link kicks in things will change. For G this seems to be a way getting rid of the spam sites that usually look for short term gain.
What they are thinking right now.....seeing the seo world scrambling... hope they are not laughing at us
They certainly have a very effective strategy in place. With so many full SEO experts tracking their every move, I would not be surprised at all if they randomize the weight of different factors in the algorithm & let the SERPs bounce around just before, during, & after an update. If you want to test a hypothesis you need to control the variables - but they do not really let us. Really, all we are left with is experimental design techniques (and more than a little trial and error). I think there are several "Laws of Google", all of which are subject to debate: - Google is smarter than us. - Google knows we are smart too - and uses diversions to outflank us. - Google truly wants relevant results. - Google can adjust/adapt their strategy quicker than we can. Add/Remove/Update/Delete? Have fun guys/gals.
Well, another day and another new set of keyword phrases showing up in the DP rankings, while the ones yesterday that had decent rank dropped off the face of the earth. Sort of funny note - I made a page, just 2 days ago, for a "fantasy bull riding" article that one of my writers wanted to post. I added the phrase "fantasy bull riding" to be searched by DP today and it already showed up at 98 with no advertising, no coop being directed it, no nothing. Yet, my long existing pages rate nothing. Another interesting note with this current update. When searching site: on google, I have 1,000 pages (depending on the day I search) showing up. The pages that are showing up first are hundreds of vBulletin archive pages, and my main site pages, incluiding my home page are buried. The home page was always the first page to show up before, where did it go now?
Everything reverted today back to "Jagger1" type results. Postion #746 allinanchor: #797 -10/29/2005 Position: 10 DCs #732 2 DCs #740 14 DCs #746 7 DCs #763 Allinanchor: #792 on 4 DCs #795 on 7 DCs #797 on 12 DCs #798 on 10 DCs Caryl
Per Caryl's request I'm only seeing the new results on: 64.233.183.99 64.233.183.104 DC 66.102.9.104 mentioned by Matt Cutts is showing Jagger1 results using the keywords that I track. Anyone seeing the same?
Im seeing the exact same thing on all DC's as you are Caryl. All results have gone back to J1 update results. Nice to be back in the black hole again.
I knew the Jagger2 results (if that was what they were) I was seeing were tenuous at best because ALL of the allins stayed in the 700s to 800s. Personally, I think Jagger 2 was their "tinker" phase. I guess we wait to see what Google throws at us next... Caryl PS - Thanks classifieds I'm seeing my site at positions in the 400s on Datacenters 64.233.183.99 and 64.233.183.104.
What I don't understand is A) why I am up early on a Sat morning wrting in any online forum, B) my frustration levels after seeing completely different results from 64.233.183.99, 66.102.9.104 and whatever dc is used where I live and C) when Matt says I though that meant that after a few days, most of the other DCs would start showing results similar to 66.102.7.104 - but I have not seen that at all, it's the same crummy results from jagger1 on most dcs still. Did other interpret this differently? I mean, are we going to see these same results for the several weeks after jagger3 while everyone reports spam too or will jagger3's results propagate properly throughout the entire web? I assume it is just more "wait till the dust settles", but I am sick of it all.
The more I watch this update the more I fear that old and trusted sites are going to rule the roost once Jagger3 has passed. Use this tool and run a few tests and note the domain age. I have run many tests and the majority of the time the top 10 domains are old, old, old. Domain age is one of the factors that webmasters can't manipulate and Google knows this.
Nice tool seo-ireland. Quote: I expect Jagger2 to start at 66.102.9.x. It will probably stay at 1-2 data centers for the next several days rather than spreading quickly. This is what I was expecting to happen. Why would the jagger 2 results disappear? All I can say is that I hope jagger2 comes back and propagates over the next couple of days then jagger 3 rolls out soon.. I can't take much more of this.
Maybe we won't see jagger2 results anymore. Maybe they'll roll out 3 on a couple of data centers and 2 won't propagate before then??? Any thoughts? edit: I still see jagger 2 on 64.233.183.99 and 64.233.183.104
Results are the same here. Only those 2 dc's w/the new results. This morning I actually looked at Caryl's results first...cursed...looked at mine and cursed some more. Oh well....on to Jagger3...whatever that will be. Dave
