It may take time to get the right buyer but I reckon you have a good thing there.

Unless your planning on developing it yourself, I wouldn't waste the time thinking of what the domain could stand for lol. If your selling it, I'd start w/ what shows up SERPs. And if you are really serious about selling it, I'd hire a broker. And I'd assume any broker would take on a 3 letter .com. They speak for themselves.

Nice domain. I guess the good thing about names like this is that the right buyer will find you.

lol, thats how you sell LLL.coms, check all the acronyms and then find possible end-users for it that use the letters

I don't use brokers, they just take 15% of my profit when I can do it myself

    Appreciate the comments guys

I just assumed because you posted your domain in an appraisals thread, that you really didn't know how to go about selling the domain. Good luck.

All I'm saying is this. It's not necessarily a "waste" of time, to look up what ivg would/could stand for...but it's speculating, especially when there's a dozen or so companies already using ivg in their domains...especially when some are using it on other extensions. So I guess holding onto (see what develops) vs. flipping it to an existing business is what you'll need to ask yourself.

Now, I'm not sure how much experience you have in selling domains yourself. But, sending out - outbound offers/solicitations, is ~completely different than one of these companies contacting you for the domain. I'm assuming you are going to want to get 10k+...or at least over the ~3k you spent. Well, not all individuals/businesses are so "accommodating" to offers in the XX,XXX range, when they're not coming from a "trusted" source (reputable broker). A knowledgeable broker will know how much that business can spend and the subsequent price to ask for. And you'll be shooting yourself in the foot from the get-go by sending out "sloppy" offers, when you could have hired a broker. "Wait? Who really own's this domain? And why am I getting multiple solicitations?"

    $10k vs $20k - 15%.... I'd rather have the latter.

I've been doing this since about 2000 and Ive also brokered names for other people over the years so I do have the experience required to sell the name

Its not only companies that use just IVG in their names (plenty of those), but companies that use full words and would love this as a url shortener, as well as companies that use words in different languages, possible end-users I wouldn't normally think of. It takes a lot of research to get a full list together of possible buyers, I have about 70 so far so the list is growing

You don't know what I paid for it ;)

It has always and will always be just me approaching the end-user so not sure where the "multiple" comes from

    Appreciate the input though
