I've written a great ebook and don't know what to do...

I don't have the first idea about marketing this to the masses. Clickbank requires an outlay when I haven't even had a sale. What route should I take to hit this thing big?

Clickbank may require an outlay but they are a great resource for setting up an easy ebook download business, and, more importantly, getting your product in front of thousands of affiliate marketers who may choose to build their own sites to promote the product. If you are selling downloads, I would recommend getting past the idea of having to share profits with CB as well as with Affiliates. Some people on Clickbank sell their products by offering up to 75% commission (most are probably 40 to 50%), which provides great incentive for the affiliates to promote the heck out of it. You could also setup a WordPress site of your own and promote all yourself... WP has plugins that allow for easy download sales. Let me know if you need help.

Start an ebay account - try selling it there - you will get a TON of exposure - and many people LOVE ebooks - its worth a shot

If you have a website, or blog, with decent traffic, why not sell it directly. That way you keep all the profit.

I sell one of my own very well received ebooks that way - very easy to set up to do so through paypal.

Create a website for your product and have articles that target keywords related to your topic. Your criteria should be keywords that have a lot of search volume but don't have so many competing pages (there are more efficient ways to judge competition but I don't have room to go into it all in a quick forum post). For each post write an additional article and use that article to get an offsite link once each day for 25 days with each link pointing at a related article on the site and a second link pointing at your home page.

You want to sign up for an autoresponder service and create a 12 part mini-course (or give away a small ebook). Make sure you have your optin box at the bottom of all your articles and in your side bar. Keep in contact with your potential customers regularly by feeding them useful information. Most people trying to make a quick buck neglect this. Most people however aren't ready to buy until the 13th time they come across a product, so most people are only really warming up potential customers for their competitors. The key part is to get them on a list and build up a relationship with your potential customers through providing them with useful content. You will convert much higher. You can sell your product through paypal or checkout dot com until you have made enough sales to pay the clickbank fee. The clickbank fee is definitely worth it, if you can sell your own product (thus raising your gravity) I assure you, you will get affiliates on board.
