I'm sure the book doesn't say just put a high keyword in a popup with AdSense adverts.

You will be better off creating a full web site, with content (articles), around a high paying keyword.

The page the AdSense adverts are on must have content, and it's against policy to put them in popups.

Can be done and will work, but your account will soon be disabled. Better to take time as said and create worth while content.

    Good luck

The thing with high-paying keywords is that for most people they don't pay nearly as high as you're led to believe, for various reasons. Such as advertisers only paying top rates for ads shown on Google's own pages, not on your site. Or for smart pricing kicking in and reducing the amount of money you get because of your site's poor conversion rates.

Mind you, there's nothing wrong with looking at keyword lists and doing your own sleuthing to figure out which keywords generally pay more than others, but we're talking relative values here, not absolute values.

As for building sites specifically for AdSense, see my latest blog entries on that subject.

    I agree.

Doing a high-paying keyword page in a low PageRank site won't help. One click will earn you $0.10 or $0.20, not as what been promised. Google knows your PageRank and your traffic profile, so they won't put high-paying ads in such low-traffic and built-for-AdSense type of sites.

It's funny how everyone focuses on the high-paying keywords, sometimes to the exclusion of all else. When I was writing my book, a USA Today reporter asked me if I was including a list of keyword values and I said I wasn't, because it wasn't really relevant to the overall theme of the book (growth through good content). Several early readers pushed me to do it, though, so to satisfy them I just put together a small sample list of topics that in the past have paid well, but without any values attached.

Again, I don't think there's anything wrong with researching keywords values. If you can't decide between three or four topics, do some research to see which one will pay more and start with it. But don't get too obsessed with it. You're better off spending your time on other things.
