I've seen conflicting information regarding forum signatures

WOW, so as for this comment, don't believe that a LINK is a LINK. This would totally disprove the fact that as link building methods get "spammier" the SE's devalue those links. This is why if you take Site A with lets say 100 targeted links of high value vs. Site B with lets say 1000 junk links, Site A has better serps among other qualifying factors that make it simply a better rated site than Site B. Pay attention to your link building strategies and certainly don't build a new site thinking A link is just a link ! You LOSE value by building a new site with just ANY kind of link.. are you seriously willing to risk your hard work in development of your prized site. Anyway, do what you want but this method to me is crazy ! Who's got time to waste on building with ANY kind of link. Linkbuilding 101.. look for links of value.. your site will rise in the SERP's MUCH faster.
