The following site from an SEO perspective has the canonical domain problem. Its listed in google without the www but not with the www.

    xxxx.co.uk

I need to change this so its only listed as the www. version. The best way to do this bearing in mind SEO implications is to do a permanent redirect of the non-www to the www of the domain. But when I do this in cpanel, the site will not load!

Any ideas please, I need some help.

    Best regards,

    Steve

Put this in a file called .htaccess and upload it to your site.

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^allblindsltd.co.uk
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.allblindsltd.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]
    Code (markup):

    Done. I love you.

But, does this help google ditch the .xxxxx.co.uk version in preference to spidering and listing the www. version?

    Thanks again

What a 301 redirect (what you just added) does is tell google that url.com has moved permanently to www. url.com.

So, the www. version should be preffered.
