ok here it is at www.myfamilymatters.org everyone has really been great, but I can still use some advice from the pros please check out my first ad-sense site and give me some pointers, good or bad. so I can start marketing this site. To get a feel of how it may or may not do. Thanks in advance new kid on the block.
I liked the look of your site, but I have a few observations for you to consider. 1) I like how you wrap the content around your Adsense large rectangle, but the links are a bright blue and really stick out. I believe the general consenus it is better to try to blend the ads into your site. Make them look like part of your website. 2) I noticed you are reprinting other people's articles. I have visited a number of sites that reprint articles and I think your site is the most visually pleasing I have seen. My concern is that it appears that you have altered the "About the Author" section of the article. First, you separated that section from the rest of the article with an Adsense banner. I suspect some authors may object to that. Second, it looks like the text of the original links have been altered. If that is true, that is a big no-no. The link text helps the author promote their website. Linking text of "online dating tips" is much more useful in terms of SEO than the author's name. I submit articles to selected article directories to promote my website. Some sites do not reprint the article with the "About the Author" section in its original form. Doing so is a violation of the reprint rights and those site owners get an e-mail from me. It appears to me that you may have picked up your articles from EzineArticle.com. They allow three self-serving links. If you are looking to cut down on your outgoing links, you might take a look at ArticleCity.com. I believe they allow one link with the link text being the URL. For that reason, I don't post articles there. Just some thoughts for you to consider. Good luck with your site!
I agree with this, layout is very nice, but some better colour matching would help I'm sure. Good luck with the site, time to get promoting! DD
Sorry to give you some bad news. Unless you promote your site heavily it will not get any traffic from the search engines. Why? You are using articles from other webmasters, this will become duplicate content and your site will go to the supplemental index. Make unique content instead.
Thank You so much for the response, it really was helpful, the articles that are being used for myfamilymatters.org is from articlecity. and on every page of article Ive added a link at the bottom of the page with the author name being the link to there site. I'm really not sure if this is ok. I only wanted to use the articles temporarily until I was able to do my own content writing. is there a way that you can send me an example of what the proper layout should look like by link or email. if email please send to once I get things worked out, would it be ok to promote your site on myfamilymatters.org and any future site I will publish? Thank You very very much signed determined
If the ad block on the bottom right doesn't work after some time, consider changing its position above the fold, just right below the Man Issues and Finances - just my guess though.
I would display the "About The Author" section of the article exactly as it shows on the article directory with all the links active. No author is going to object to that. If you are a decent writer with some good ideas, I think writing your own content is definitely the way to go. I had considered seeding a section of my website with reprinted articles, but I ended up writing the content myself in no time. In terms of reprinting articles, I think your selection at ArticleCity.com may be limited. I don't think they give a good user experience to the authors (no preview before submitting, no article editting or deletion, no article viewing stats, no text links, slow approval, etc). That is really a shame because they are a PR6 directory with good traffic. I also don't think that ArticleCity.com provides a good experience for publishers either. I could not find where you could get a clean copy of the article. It looks to me like they expect you to tear it out of the article source HTML. Other article directories make it a lot easier for publishers. As for my articles, I think that they are pretty good quality. When they are reprinted in their original form with the text links active, I think both I and the publisher benefit. They get interesting content, I get backlinks to my site that help me rank for my target keywords. If reprinted in their original form, I would be happy to see my articles published on your website.
I would start building more proprietary content and try to "embed " the ads either on the left of the main content areas or even inside the text area, in the middle or such, matching colors and using blue links. Regards
How I wish this was true! My site is 100% original content, and people who have merely duplicated my info, and with far less optimised (as far as I can tell) html and wording often end up above mine in the rankings... I'm still battling to figure that out... but I wish that Google weighted things better for original material versus those who just republish.
google can't tell which is the original and which is the copy. other sites are less optimised but probably have better PR. you need to work on that.
should be dedicated to showing Google ads. When I look at the site all I see are G ads. Looks like you are trying to trick the visitor into thinking the two blocks of ads are the menu. Even G ads on the site menu. Just another MFA site add it to the millions of other sites just like it.
Thats because its mfa thats the whole point to increase CTR you know.. Choose a better niche and target a specific subject your kw bids are lowsy.
