I have 2 type of sites, one with reviews site with motivation content to generate revenue via affiliate marketing, and another one is unique content site to generate revenue with adsense. One week ago, adsense site traffics increasing. I thought "If I place affiliate banner instead of adsense image then I would generate much more revenue than adsense did for me." I had replaced adsense image with affiliate banner in the best position which receive 20% CTR a day. One week passed, I got 5% CTR with 0 sales!! My adsense revenue decreased due to lost clicks on affiliate banner. I have to replace affiliate banner with adsense image again. This lessons teach me that If I want to generate revenue through affiliate I have to brought my visitors a presell contents which related directly to affiliate I promoted. Just place banner with non directly related to affiliate contents and hope to get some sell won't work. If I have a regular content site, I should monetize them with adsense, If I do affiliate I should have site specially for affiliate which keep visitor reading and warming them before send to merchant. I have affiliate site which generate good revenue with affiliate which I didn't place adsense on them and all contents are tend to presell. Too bad, I think I loss about $xxx to learn this lesson.
