Hi, I just signed up for the co-op advertising network, and although the ads are working on all my pages, it won't validate, because it wants me to put ads on pages that no longer exist! A few weeks ago I re-did my site, making all my html pages php instead, and then I got rid of the html pages. Many of the php pages have been indexed by Google, but some of the html pages are still indexed (although they don't exist anymore) and I wondered if that could be the problem! However, if you were to go through my site (over 500 pages) you'd find that there are ads on each page of the site. Any advice? Cheers Fiona
One option is to put in a request to Google to remove the non-existant pages from the URL. This link can be used to do so http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/topic.py?topic=8459 It may be that you can put ads on your 404 page as a work around. Of that I am not sure. Good luck.
Thanks, I'll try that! I know some people have used .htaccess files to do it...but the whole reason that I changed from html to php was that I just can't get .htaccess to work on my server (although I can with other hosting accounts). The good news is that Google seems to be gradually replacing the html pages with php pages rather than keeping them both indexed... Cheers Fiona
