    Hey,

I've been thinking of an idea recently and it doesn't look like it has been done before. The problem i have is knowing if it is possible to do with PHP/other. I don't want to tell anyone about the idea unless i find a reliable programmer who won't steal the idea.

    Any suggestions please?

    Tom

No offense but you'd be surprised how many times I've heard that "and it doesn't look like it has been done before".

Generally speaking if it does not involve video manipulation, sound manipulation, accessing files on someone's computer directly, or needing to access hardware then there's a good chance it can be done purely with PHP or similar scripting language perhaps even combined with ajax. Otherwise if it meets any of the requirements above, you may need to look at a binary executable or someone to write something in python or perl (as they're cross platform) to be executed by php.

Thanks for the reply, basically if the idea has been implemented before i would of known about it as i feel it would be very popular in the web development industry.

Um ok, unless you're a developer yourself theres a good chance anything you thought of has already been done (and probably failed as a result doesn't look like anyone done it).

I could tell you if it's do-able or not, but if you need someone to do it for you, just keep in mind I don't work for free, nor do spec work.
