I've burnt my PSU today...

I was surfing the net, on my desktop AMD PC, and ***ZAP*** the power went off. It smelled like something was burning, and it turned out to be my PSU. Just bad luck... :(

Mine blew up last year. We've got dodgy electricity here. I ended up buying a Seasonic S12 and it hasn't skipped a beat.

I had a UPS Stabilizer and a SpikeGuard installed. But its still blew... Maybe it was too old. Components go kaput fairly fast these days.

1000W Corsair! Thats really expensive... How about a 500Watt Umax?

A year ago my PSU blew up, gave me quite a shock to hear it explode :) I'd recommend that you spend a bit more money on a good PSU.

Yeah .. You always need to upgrade ( get a new one ) your PSU ! Don't continue your work if your PSU is already 2 years old ;) Buy a new one and you will not see anything like this again ! I'm changing my PSU every 6 months and this is already 4th year with no problems :)

That is an interesting view. PCs get outdated pretty quckly, and most people tend to buy new PCs every 2 years or so... So, if you're not really planning to use your old hardware after 3 years of service, you wouldn't bother changing the PSU to protect PC components, unless yu have some very important data...
