I've been UNsmartpriced - less visitors - more money

10 days ago my traffic dropped from 50.000 pageviews to 30.000 pageviews. However my CPC has increased by almost 100% and my overall revenue has gone up! (CTR stayed the same)

So it seems the less visitors the better, guess I need to start unSEO ;)

I think your next step is to turn your site off and watch the money roll in. :D

Indeed. Very funny, but I think 10 days is not enough to draw a line and make statistics. Wait some more and your conclusion will be more closer to the truth.

Yeah the more my traffic has gone up the less I've been earning with adsense. In total my websites recieve around 30,000 uniques per day and I make the same with adsense as I did with 3000 uniques.

Just removed Adsense on a website I suspect was being smart priced. Had a 302 redirect on it to another website. Right when I finished fixing it up, threw it back online and my Adsense earnings fell through the floor.

Awkward. But what can we do!

I would agree this is very funny.

The reality with smart pricing is that Quality can (and often does) override Quantity. So many people just don't get this and throw ads up on every page of their site and as many times as possible.

What matters besides placement, size, color etc. is that you place ads on pages where they can be effective and in positions where it makes sense to the reader.

Your drop in traffic (given all other things equal) does raise an interesting question if in fact no other factors changed. Perhaps visitors are not hitting pages that were previously crawled but scored a low quality score from Google, but are now finding pages where Google values the content more.
