Same for me I had a subdomain which I tried all sorts of ways, adding contents for the last few years it never go further still at PR 3 till I gave up.
This scenario is not that surprising. As your PR goes up, it gets progressively tougher to improve your PR. It is quite easy to get PR1-3. To get past PR3 you usually have to do some decent link building. Research some link building topics on this forum. There are many threads that discuss various link building techniques.
Build new quality backlinks and don't care too much what the toolbars says. About 2 years ago our web hosting company had PR5 and got only a few visitors a day from google. Now we stuck on PR4 but have many times more traffic from google. SEO is not only about toolbar pagerank. It is about positions and traffic.
Keep on building quality backlink. Always look for strong backlink is the only way to make your PR stable and increase time to time
Feel proud that you are stuck at PR 3. One of my sites had been at PR 3 for some years and later dropped to PR 2
i completely agree with marblehost.... one of my site's home page has pr5...but it's my pr3 inner pages that get way, way more traffic... honestly, i'm not sure what value pr has. SERPS are all that matter to me.
Today's PR3 is like last year's pr5. Believe it. It took me a long time to stop focusing on PR. One of my sites was a PR 5 last year. It's now a "3" and gets twice the organic traffic than before.
i hit PR4 then got knocked back down to PR3. then i realised i was running a website and didn't give two hoots about PageRank.
I would not be concerned. Today, PR3 is like what PR5 was a year or two ago. And, my guess is that in another year or two, there will no such thing as PR anymore. Also, PR has no real value in SERPs anymore. So, unless you are in the business of selling PR, you should not care. We all tend to look at it as how important we are and how much Google likes our site. We also see it as a measure of our success. But, it is not. Success should be measured in terms of how well the site positions in results pages. That's why so many here talk about quality content, because that is a big factor in breaking through the top 5. My suggestion is, pay less attention to PR as a measurement tool and more attention to position for your keywords. /*tom*/ PS: I had 1 PR6 and 2 PR5 sites. Today, they are all PR4 but I don't care. They do well in SERPs and I get traffic. . . that has been my goal.
I have a secret for all you guys who are obsessed with PR. Stop focusing on PR!!! Dammit - it's so simple. If you shift your mindset to focus on driving traffic to the site than it is inevitable that your PR will increase, especially if that traffic is via search. Do your keyword research, write targeted articles, comment on related blogs and sites, get up in the related forums, and drive that traffic to your site... PR is a number, If you have a website with a PR7 it does not mean that your website is successful, because success is determined by the accomplishment of goals that you've set. PR does not mean you will make more money... It's a number. I have been making a sexy living online for almost 8 months, and not ONCE have I glanced, or cared to glance, at the PR of any of my sites.. and guess what? I have sites ranging from 3 all the way up to 7... Focus on driving traffic and your problem will be solved. I promise.
Great piece of advice !.....But then, this web world is full of people who wants to just increase the PR to sell the links and probably the site itself! Regards, RightMan
