450 accounts on the server hacked by him today

By the conversation I had with him on msn it looks like is using the safe_mod to exploit the sites and change the indexes
    LOL

If this guy/group is rampaging around the ISPs and taking down sites, how can I/we protect my/our own websites? I guess the first step is regular backups (I always keep my sites sync to my home PC), coupled with daily monitoring of the index pages.

    Any tips?

All my sites run from a database, one database nearing 1gb ... I'd die if I lost it, I've been praying my host keeps a backup ... from now on I think I'm gonna be keeping the backups!

My only tip is if your host is taking backups, MAke sure its not connected to your server or the other servers. No line can be going into it. He attacks Datacenters. I have been tracking him. I'm not specifying his location. I know why he is doing this tho. It's War to him. And that is bullshit about his 4 year old brother dieing, because "Where" he lives there is no war going on. That is where im going to leave it.

    He's probably from Slovakia.

He is doing this simply as a move against the west (for our action in Iraq etc).

He deletes all back ups the host has (my host told me this)

Then you are using a shit host. Ditch them and spread your websites over a number of different hosts, never keep all your sites with the one company.
