Been and gone I'm afraid - I didn't actually check my stats for the day until I'd already had 250 diggs.

It's a shame because I'd have liked to have seen all the traffic in real-time, but it's not the end of the world...

Thanks so much everyone - I really appreciate it.

Are you saying you got pulled?

I got promoted to the front page yesterday (w/the site in my signature). It got pulled, because too many members said the Adsense on my site was spam. I wish they knew how hard I worked on those layouts. Maybe they wouldn't have dissed them so badly...or who am I kidding, they would have dissed them regardless. Those heartless bastards! LOL

No it just ran it's course. I'm amazed that your page got pulled though. What did it look like?

Did it stay up at all? Did you get much out of it?

You can see the digg post here: http://digg.com/design/Website_Layout_Cookbook

Read the comments. They really went to town with the insults. Saying that my site was an Adsense scheme. That my site was outdated and basically crap. LOL

Maybe so, but lots of people were digging it before it got pulled. It seemed like I was getting a new Digg each time I clicked the refresh button in my browser.

Yes, it stayed up for half a day.

It kind of pisses me off that so many people were digging my site, yet it got pulled. I would be very interested if that system of pulling a post is based on a ratio of diggs versus people who complain.

If I understand correctly, it doesn't go against the Adsense TOS to claim what you make, so I'll let you know.

Before the DIGG, that site was making $5.00/day on average.
After the DIGG, the site made $90 (but just for that day). Today is has made $20.

So my revenue for the day skyrocketed from $5 to $90. People say that DIGG members don't click on their Adsense Ads, but I disagree, I think it's just a matter of making sure your site is optimized for Adsense.

Damn - It's not adsense that's the issue, it's the server... Appreciate it though.
Sorry, I didn't mean how much did you make - Thanks for letting me know though - interesting insight...

At least you got something out of it in the end...

It does seem odd that they pulled it though...

Again though guys - thanks an awful lot for all the Diggs!

For those who aren't familiar with Digg, I wrote this article as a [very] brief summarry of what happens when your site gets Digged...

    Might be of interest. :)

They're all lazy and/or missed the point of your site.

And some people burst into tears when they see an advert regardless.

I think you've got an excellent site there. Something quite unique in it's approach. For what it's worth now, I've dugg you and left a comment.

    Cheers

Thanks Chris, that makes me feel better that you liked it. At the risk of sounding like a total wuss, what they said about my site really hurt my feelings and it makes me feel better to hear some positive feedback. I think I was so offended, because it took me so damn long (months) to sketch out all 510 of those layouts, scan them in, and then trace them into illustrator. Then for them to call it spam and say they were crappy layouts made me feel like I wasted my time on the site.

I think you might be right about their missing the point. I made the site so that people could get some visual cues to come up with ideas to creating their own unique custom layouts, but these DIGG members seem to be judging each layout on its own, not as a visual cue. It's like they want the HTML/CSS code behind the layouts so that they could just copy and paste them as is.

In any case, it was a learning lesson to me that you really need thick skin when posting to DIGG. There will always be a few that will say something negative.
