Well would you adam and eve it! I started a website about my bar in sunny Lanzarote nearly 2 years ago and submitted to the DMOZ directory not long after starting the site. I don't think I ever submitted my site again as it's a personal site I was not bothered about getting in. It was the first site I created and the first to be submitted and the first to be accepted. Based on this I've submitted another 4, maybe they will be included later this year as they have been running for nearly 2 years as well
Congratulations! Have you considered applying to become an editor - the more there are the quicker sites can be reviewed
2 years?! Thats all?!?! WOAH, good for you man! How did you get in so fast? Please, share your secrets with us! =D -Barry
ok here is my secrets 1. Submit your site. 2. within 2 years build some other sites 3. Move to another country, buy a bar 4. buy a TFT monitor 5. Scratch your butt a few thousand times Thats it, before you know it you site is in the dmoz directory
how sweet J.P, do you notice increase in visitors from google and other search engine? Would really like to know if it's really useful to be listed in Dmoz
Toby, you will get different answers for this question depending on who is answering. The truth of the matter is that for some it can be a great help, and for others it could be almost no help at all. The best action to take is to suggest the site and move on to any and everything else that you can to promote the site. If you get listed in the ODP, then whatever help it might provide would just be more icing on the cake.
for me its made not 1 differance My site is top in google/second for the term "hanging monkey" out of 5 million results and has been long before listed in dmoz so being listed really makes no differance for me
Enjoy the 3 visitors you'll get annually from the listing, you've earnt them 2 of them will be webmasters looking to see the sites already listed in DMOZ, the other will be lost...
wow thats a lot of pages for hanging monkey. Just how many monkeys does one hang? I wouldn't think that goes on that much.
