I think its a good achievement because it has 22 million competitors but, at the same time, you have to realise while you have aimed at that particular keyword, for others it must have been a secondary keyword. Sometimes when you start a site you can strt ramking veryt well for a keywords that you do not really target, but unfortunately, they retur hardly, if any, traffic.

It is not that easy to be no.1 on Google for compatitive keywords. It usually takes more time. Good luck.

interesting and great job that you can rank pretty well for such a large result 22 over millions. That's a good start.
    keep it up :)

Interesting. Now work on getting a top ranking for "wow guides" or "wow reviews", which are phrases that people actually search for. :)

It is pretty easy to get top rankings for obsure keyword combinations. As an experiment, I once did a test to see how long it would take for search engines to pick up "framastatic fillrods". It took 2 or 3 days to get the number one spots.

I've seen a derivative of this is used by some SEO scammer companies who guarantee top 10 ranking in Google, MSN and Yahoo. A bicycle shop owner once came to me and was livid about their last experience with an SEO. The SEO guaranteed a top 10 placement. The contract was fulfilled, but the search phrase was for something like "two wheel peddled devices". :D

    This is very true.

Now off to work, the armadillos are waiting :D

Perhaps you were the only one using those keywords. Also, nobody really uses those keywords when searching. Any way, at least your site is indexed.... lol :D

the amount of results returned has nothing to do with competition. google just picked the other results because the words happened to be on a page in the site. Google will even return results sometimes if the word isn't on the page. No one searches for that word so that is nothing to cheer about. plus your site is nothing about reviews.

Yes, those are easy phrases... getting on #1 for red blue dog is worthless... (You better don't even spam your title tag)

Well that's a bit too nice Tan...

Check back in 2 days this thread will outrank them for wow guides reviews

Now like some one mentioned - it's not at all competitive

    Total inferences/ocurrances; 23 500 000
    Quotations; 10
    allintitle; 12
    allinurl; 5

I say this thread about Wow Guides Reviews should be up there soon

Just a little tip in calculating the competitive nature of a term... ( and the power of back links - he he- wait a few days)

    jpcesar,

Keep going. Ignore some of the comments. Keep treating your web site like a child and watch it grow.

Just like a baby saying it's first word. You are excited and proud while others might think that Daddy or Mommy from a childs mouth is nothing, since practically everyone can say it.

I was really happy when I got my first ranking in a search engine.

It doesn't matter what words you ranked with, just keep at it!

    Roger

Bonjour eh... had to be a Canadian being all nicey nicey.. he he

I am simply hoping to impart to them, and anyone else the importance of formal KW/Phrase research - a term that MAY look exciting.. may not always be. This isn't much fun if you spend 3+ months to get there... only to find it was a waste of time

    research is Key

I will make sure that does not happen. Because i will update wow guides reviews with a little more seo tricks, and write some wow guides reviews myself, so the content get's better.

Anyway, thx for the gratz guys, i know it's not a great achievement but i'm still happy.

PS: at least i'm getting traffic from google and boosting adsense clicks :)

Just remember when researching KWs/Phrases to use operators such as

    ""
    allintitle:
    allinurl:

to get a better idea of the true competitiveness of a given term.. that's my little addition to things....

Are you sure you are actually getting any traffic for the key pharse wow guide reviews? If so, then continue with optomizing for this phrase. Otherwise, I suggest you go to the next step of focusing on more competitive key words & phrases! That will be more rewarding in the long term.
