I started graphic design over a year ago.. tried various different marketing ideas and strategies yet i've reached nowhere.

I specialize in Album/Mixtape cover design. But have no clue really where to
    market my product.

Any help would definately be appreciated. refferals too.

a few samples.. can be found in my portfolio... 1st link in sig. needs to be updated though.

For starters your "Contact Me" page is very average. It takes a while to load (being a plugged in script), and the user is presented with a big Google ad.

Try updating your site to look more modern and appealing (the menu tabs and pop-up images are good but the rest looks a little plain)

Ok I'm just going to list stuff u need to fix..

Site is slow, this affects user experience in a negative way.

You should be targeting your niche market which is Album/Mixtape, not "custom graphics design" which is a much more competitive keyword.

Your using Iframes for absolutely no reason, cut that out.

Title tags should list your keywords, or at least information about the page.. IE: "Grand GFX | Contact Us"

Don't use some script's contact us form, do a bit of research and you can have one lickity split, or simply pay somebody on DP about 10 bucks to set it up.

You mention you update it often, if this is the case include archived portfolio pages.

Add in pages involving your methodologies, pricing, complete contact info..

Expand your portfolio by describing each album cover individually.

use a mod rewrite to 301 redirect your http://www.domain.com version to your http://domain.com version.

Add in a unique meta description to each page.

send offers/ pitches / portfolios to recording studios, target undiscovered musicians, offer agencies / charities to do some free work

Hey, you need to provide some good content on what service you are providing. Always communicate with your prospects. This is important especially if you are in a competitive field. See if you can add a subscription box to get in touch with them. :)

After you have a nice site setup you can work on gaining some links to receive organic search traffic. You can also setup pay per click campaigns at google, this will give you immediate targeted traffic.

I think the main thing you need to do is make your product look better. I looked in your portfolio and the graphics were subpar at best. Next thing while your perfecting your craft you need to make sure your site looks real good because people hate to come to a graphics website that doesnt have its own great graphics on its website. After you do that then send out emails to potential clients and spend some money to get postcards to send out to local businesses

Make a CD w/some of your work on it and give it to local bands. You don't even have to try to make the sale just say, "Hi, I make cd cover art, here is a free cd of my demo work - thanks"

Like some previous posters have said; there are many ways to get the word out about your services.
