Hi all, It's been a long time since I've visited this site, and I've just spent a pleasant hour and a half getting reacquainted with it. I used to run a UK-based humour site, RandomRant.co.uk, but that is, alas, no more. It was pretty foul-mouthed and 'edgy', and when I started to have children's books published by HarperCollins I thought it best to let the site fade into the background. Anyway, I'm back now, running my own site (BarryHutchison.com) and a comics/movies/video games/books review site, www.thephantomzone.co.uk. Looking forward to learning a lot on here again about promoting the site and hopefully making some money from it. Cheers! Baz
Welcome back then! Your review site looks awesome, very nice on the graphics and well structured. You should have no problem at all monetizing your traffic since you have the technical ability on your side, it's just a matter of testing things around a little and find what works best for you.
Cheers, James. I only started putting ads up there a couple of days ago. The big 300x250 ad on the homepage was only up for an hour or so when it brought in 10GBP in affiliate commission. It'd be great if that was a sign of things to come!
You will not be putting more adsense blocks on your pages? I see for instance http://www.thephantomzone.co.uk/2011/08/02/hard-reset-trailer-and-screenshots/ has only one 468x60. Do you have previous experience with adsense and ad placement in your days with randomrants?
Hi James, Yes, I'll be adding more and tweaking the style, layout of the ones that are currently there. They're just randomly dropped in at the moment as I was testing the Wordpress advertising plugin I'm using.
OK, you'll have much monetary success I'm sure. Although success depends on the individual's view and existing bank accounts I'm sure you'll do very fine and will grow your web portfolio too.
