I'll be marking this day on my calendar. Finally a sale with CJ. I was starting to wonder if CJ was any good at all for organic traffic. Is anyone doing well with cj with targeted, organic traffic? Or are the big CJ earners all PPC/arbitrage users?
Do you just use the banners and links available in you CJ account, of do you create your own landing pages that give more product info before sending visitors to the affiliate sites? I have seen a few sites that have created elaborate intermediate pages and I wonder how they perform.
None of my sites serve a primary service of selling my advertisers products. Most of my sites offer information about a number of issues (I have a couple of blogs, for example), and when I discuss products, talk about the news, or have any opportunity to suggest products or plug special discounts, I do. Because my sites are fairly content driven, my visitors trust me to be giving advice as opposed to trying to sell them products. I almost always use text links that I slip into my text, here and there. I don't earn anywhere near as much money as many affiliates who take countless other approaches to converting sales, but my philosophy is that good content is the best way to sell good products. If you don't have good content (whether it's an elaborate landing page or simply having nothing to offer the visitor other than an ad), your clicks will be low. If you don't advertise good products, your conversion will be low.
I think if you only use banners your site may not convert very well. Alot of people are adblind and do not click on banners. I do OK with organic traffic and CJ.
My best performers are via search marketing. Landing pages are the Keyword Links provided by advertisers.
I do quite well with CJ since starting last year, after this length of time I have begun to notice that text links are proving better converters..
Look at the options in many of your advertisers on CJ. You will find Banners, Email links...etc. On some, you will also find "Keyword Link" If you are using search marketing (paying to be listed on search engine pages), those keyword links would be your landing pages for those campaigns.
I get pretty decent results from search engine traffic. I had a quick fling with PPC, but I just couldn't bring myself to 'spend money to make money', when I wasn't actually making any money from it.
