    Hello DP,

I am just wondering if giving and receiving itrader for free stuff is allowed?

    Isn't this itrader abuse?
I have seen lots of people in links sales thread giving and receiving itraders for
the links they are giving away free(like links from topsites or directories)

    Any thoughts?

I don't think it is. But I tihnk it should be.. because what if I scammer gets a lot of positive itrader (just from giving stuff out), then scams someone because they thought they could trust them

I don't like recieving itraders from free items that I post:rolleyes:

IMO the real question is if they use "buyer" or "seller" then I think that would be the violation. But if you use "trade" then I think that is more acceptable. Not sure though. It's still up to mods and Shawn about this instances.

To be honest, I think it is an abuse. I think this should be under a category like Solicitations. Where no iTrader is allowed to be given.

iTrader is given for buying, selling and trading.

When people give away free stuff and request iTrader feedback in exchange, members should select "trade".

The link to the offer is included in the feedback so members have to be aware of this fact reviewing carefully iTrader feedback of a given member to outline their criteria.

May be "BB" should add this in FAQ that if you are trading select trade else it will
    be considered as itrader abuse.

I totaly agree with you. Itrader for free stuff shouldn't be allowed as it will help scammers to get good itrader (which is supposed to be fore honest members/traders) to scam others. In my view DP administration should not allow this at all.

    I'm a fence-sitter on this one

I have received iTrader for free items and wasn't sure on what the rules are...

I think if you give them something, and get nothing in return; no iTrader should be left

If you give someone say a free template, but they have to leave a link back, and they do; then iTrader should be exchanged (you made a trade, link for template)

As far as I am concerned i-trader is used by people as a gauge of trustworthiness. The more i-trade a person has the more trustworthy they are perceived.

Giving away free stuff is not displaying trustworthiness and therefore you not be rewarded with i-trader but shuld be rewarded with reputation.

Yeah even I have received iTraders for giving free stuff. Am not sure of what to be done in such condition. I think rep points is better option (as said by Notting).

Yep i agree When you are giving some stuff or links or whatever for free it counts under Trade so there is no harm or abuse to iTrader in such things

Yes, it's abuse. The itrader ratings aren't a commodity by themselves.

What exactly is being "traded" here? What does the "seller" get in return for providing the link/product/service? An itrader rating.

It is kind of abuse because newbies can post freebies then they have good itrader then they scam others!
