i think they should get an extra point for great acting in all those "AHHHH FOUL!!! MEDIC!!! IM DYING OVER HERE!!!" performances during the game...

I agree, i wouldn't give the foul but hey...He whistles it! He should gave the penalty.
But i guess he made another mistake to correct the first one...

Mistake that probably would have direct influence in the game result...

Yeah sure, it shouldn't have been a free kick to begin with.

    Forza Azzurri !!!

If players roll after going down then you know it's not a serious injury, if anything at all. If they just go straight down then it's bad. Can be seen in other contact games such as rugby, etc.

dcristo we agree about the foul.
But you have to agree that the referee choosing to gave the foul, should gave the penalty also...
There's no excuse for him making two mistakes
He should not whistle that foul? Yes i agree, no foul to me...
Choosing to whistle, should he gave the penalty? Yes, it was inside the area...

The referee can make mistake, they're humans...but two mistakes in a row. Let's see what Klinsmann and Fifa have to say about this...:)

You know what they say... two wrongs do make a right! :D I couldnt care less what Klinsmann has to say, it's not the first bad judgement call in this World Cup and wont be the last.

O' my friends... Italy - Germany was the best match of this mundial. Italy won it, Italy merited to win it. The italian team is now very focused to win, they grit and they will eat the other finalist, whatever it will be.

    PS: 2 pizzas successfully delivered!

Great match - the best I've seen this World Cup.

Once Italy started attacking and counter-attacking, they proved to be the far superior team. Germany played pretty well; although they were just kind of standing around when the first goal was scored. They gave Grosso wayyyy too much space inside the box.

The ref. actually did a fairly decent job too. The Italians did some flopping early but they stopped once the ref made it clear that he wasn't going to fall for it. Hopefully the remaining games will be officiated the same way.
