    Hello!

I'm willing to develop an IT shop for my town (so we only deliver in this town). I was wondering if there are any other marketing ideeas besides the classical ones. For example woot.com is a new marketing ideea, but it was already implemented in my country, so it wouldn't work for us too.

If you are marketing only to your city then I would try local methods.

    1. The local news paper. You'll need to run ads for awhile before you see a result more than likey. I've run ads in papers for years and still have new customers who come up and say "I didnt know you guys were here!"

    2. A sign in front of your office.

    3. Work out a deal with the local hangout spots such as coffee shops, local diners, bars, clubs...

    4. Pens. I found what works pretty good are having cheap ink pens made up, I order them in boxes of 1000 to 5000 at a time, one good place to give them out is the local grocerie stores. People sign their credit card recepts and checks and nobody ever has a pen. Speak to the store manager and tell them you'd like to supplie them with free pens for their customers, they'll be more than happy to let you sit them out. Believe it or not some of our best customers have found us this way.

    5. Join your local development authority, you'll meet all the business owners.

    6. Join your local chapter of BNI.

    7. Join the Masons, Rotarty club or the like.

    8. Bill boards (I find these don't work well, but you could try)

    9. You could try using google adwords and targeting the geographic area for resutls to your city.

    10. Door to door and word of mouth (this is by far the best)

These are just some of the things we do in my business when looking for local clients.
