Most people would give up after a few months and never realize what they were doing wrong. I do realize you are sarcastic though.
If you are doing it full time then yeah, 3-6 months is a good period to start drawing traffic through search results and make money, but if you are a part timer, then of course the time period can be anywhere from 1-2 years I am a part timer and it took me almost 2 years to see results where i m at today
A lot of factors determine when and how much money you make. But the most crucial factors is the amount of work you put into your Adsense website and the choices you make (the niche you focus on for instance). As you can see the time it takes to start REALLY earning on Adsense can vary a lot from one publisher to another. But one thing you have to remember is that you have to be persistant. Don't give up because you've got little traffic, or no-one is clicking on your ads. Keep at it and always try and find solutions to your problems, that's how you gain experience and become successful with Adsense.

I crossed the $100 mark in about 2 weeks from the start of my blog. It all depends on how much traffic you get and definitely what niche you are in.
If you can get proper backlinks, you can start getting a good amount of organic traffic from SE's. If you wait for the backlinks automatically, you might need to wait for a few months.
