    There is a "text" widget that should be listed under your sidebar widget options. This text widget can be filled with html that should be displayed. Or you can manually edit the sidebar file within wordpress and add it in.

    Yes of course you can, that is one of my favorite hacks, especially when I have a theme that has 160 width sidebar widgets and I need to add more 300x250 blocks like videos and such.

    Go to Widgets and add html text or go to themes > theme editor > then select the sidebar php file and manually add html to the php file.

    You can set the dimensions of most flash based media players by adjusting the embed code. You Tube videos are set to 445x364 by default.
    You can simply change those numbers to the size that you want and still retain all functionality of the video player.
