My website dedicated to freshwater aquarium invertebrates, http://www.TheShrimpFarm.com, has hovered in the Google SERPs at around 2-3 for its core keywords for months. Yesterday, for the keyword I target most, I experienced a jump to #1. I didn’t think a number 1 position would make much difference over second, but boy was I wrong. From just the change in my Google organic visitors my site experienced at 25% increase in traffic! Yes sir, it is good to be #1!
yes, it's true. First rank sometimes can be completely different with the second and third one. Unfortunately some keywords (i mean competitive ones) always have three advertisements above natural SERPs so I don't get maximum traffic from my main keyword
Congratulations Being on the top of search results means a lot of traffic and Traffic = $$$ Its good for you.
The great part about it is I don’t aggressively link build. I contribute to a few forums and that is about it. Most of my backlinks are natural, and with a number 1 rank I am sure they will start to grow faster! I love self-reinforcing authority!
Nice result. One of my sites has been stuck on #4 for my main keywords and looking forward to #1 with a new SEO optimized website with more content etc. I know if I hit #1 with these keywords my traffic will rank significantly higher. Going from your own searching experience, it is very rare that you would go back to the searches and continue using the other ones. Generally sites at #1 are there for a reason and it''s why people will stay there.
It's always better to be #1 I think any site in the #1 position will get significantly more traffic than the the other sites.
Now that I am number 1, I have noticed if you do a google search for the domain name, site links are now there!
