I never knew you were able to do that with a blog! 5 days ago I thought that blogs are for kids that are not able to do web sites. Then I made my own blog to test on a existing domain I had ... Today I found out the trick about feeds. Wow! I have now made categories fitting exactly the content on many of my sites. Check the feeds in action: www.jw-network.com www.netmarketing.us www.webrelatedarticles.com http://www.addurl-free.com/odp/index.php?browse=/Business/ I will set up on many more of my sites but have to go to sleep now. My goal is to add content to 10 of my sites by simply building my blog. Some fantastic benefits: New blog posts will be indexed within days after posting, fresh content on main sites, more traffic to the blog and it is simple Damm, I should have paid more attention to those articles about online marketing I read last summer ...
If you check the URLs you will see that there is data on them that comes automatically from my blog - called feed. I have set up in such a way that when I blog things a link and snippet comes also on my other sites without me even have to think about it. If you have a specific question, let me know and I try to answer it.
Really nice Jim, can you write and then pm me a quick tutorial of how to set that up....now delete this thread LOL
Yes, but it is not scraping because It is the post description that shows up on the feed. I just found that out, so I will start to write them. It is very late but I think I'll write a full tutorial on this tomorrow and post it on ........ my blog (link and description will show up on 4 other sites, hehe)
Oh! This blog thing is so nice Jim! You inspired me to create my own blog And I must say that a blog offers much more than i thought. Consider it as a great SEO tool also. / Happy blogger
Are you guys serious? I thought everyone was doing this or at least knew about it? I have 6 blogs just for this purpose. I also push a 'feed' from one of my shopping sites into a few of my other sites so that users can shop from the other site or at least view the current deals...etc
Jim, In the old days people used to register some/many domains and then cross link between them. There were many threads with discussions of making sure all the domains were on different class C IP blocks. I believe this technique no longer works. It seems like what you are creating with the blog feeds is much the same thing. Am I missing something?
Blog spamming type stuff is a little different from this. This is very much the same as pulling an RSS feed from some other site that do not own, although this is much better as you can fully control the content that is being fed. This can be a great SEO tool as well as a time saver if you were going to include the same or similar content on the other site anyway.
I have been collecting domains related to wood crafts and putting up placeholder content while I try to figure out what to do with them. Most are linked to off of www.woodwebs.com. Wordpress is easy to install and I can write about wood all day long. Any suggestions for how I might structure this would be appreciated. Thanks,
Thanks for the welcome. Here is the tutorial: http://www.jimwestergren.com/tutorial-feed-your-sites-by-blogging/
I think it's still splogging. Blogging, to me, is producing original content spcifically for that blog. Having a feed directly into a blog is not a blog. It's a feed site.
Well I never. Did you manage to write that with a straight face? I cross promote my sites using rss feeds. This means that traffic trickles down from the high performing sites into the lower ones - and tis targetted because people only go there after clicking a link with the title of the blog post. So they know where they're going...
