Hey. My site as already given in my signature has Posts as /?p=id . This is the default permalink. But my WP-Cache is disabled. Enabling it will cause the permalinks to change. Also, I tried to install a Super-cache which also demands to have Custom permalinks. Now what should I do ? Let the WP Cache disabled or put custom permalinks ? Somethings I think which would occur in doing so are that my Backlinks would no longer work ? I am not sure . Maybe my posts would auto rename to the new permalinks ? ... So first of all what would happen if I do so and secondly is there any way to keep the backlinks if they are lost in making the changes. Like an old address to new address pointer ? About backlinks, nofollow blogs like techcrunch.com show up as Referring sites at Google.com . Since it's a no follow, it means that it won't count towards my PR ?
I am forgetting the plugin name but you should be able to locate the plugin to redirect from one format of permalinks to another one.
Oh great. I will find it out. But my real question, why do permalinks need to be changed from default for the cache to work ? What if cache remains disabled ?
Ok what's that plugin called ? And are you sure it won't have a negative affect on SEO or backlinks ?
