Good luck converting to Judaism, I mean that sincerley since I know it can be pretty tough, at times it seems like a closed society. You are on the right path with monotheism though, may God make it easy for you :)

Nah, it's not that complicated. Really all I do is read your posts.

Going for the "anyone who questions" card again, I see? Classic :D

LMAO! Converting to Judaism will probably give you some credibility when attacking Israel day in and day out. Think? Heh! :D

Does this mean that if you are against Israel politics you can die even if you are a former American president.
Carter must be mad to take Israel against him he should obey them just like the other American presidents :D

Actually, I find that Christian Zionists love Jews more than themselves, so I am trying to gain their (and your) love.

But it's not working so good. I filled out the forms, but I don't feel more Jewish yet.

There must be some secret rituals to feel yourself "Jewish" at all. It is kinda so closed to public

Just got this rep, pertains to this thread

First of all, I am not mocking conversion to Judaism. I really want to become a Jew, because I am tired of being accused of being anti-semetic. So before you crap on me for wanting to be Jewish, you should be defending me against charges of anti-semitism.

As far as my true feelings about Jews, I care about Jews as much as I care about any other religion. Not at all. Some Jews are cool, some are not. pretty much like every other group. I do have issue with the Jews who want to claim a monopoly on human suffering because of the holocaust. Mass suffering and genocide are as old as mankind itself.

Apparently one is not supposed to cavort with Muslims. Discrimination against Jews = bad, discrimination against Muslims, good. Whatever.

As far as a religion to take me, I kinda see it like this. I try to live a fairly moral life. I screw up, but I try not to endorse violence or theft. Although I'm flawed, I do try most of the time. If God (Yahweh, God, Allah) won't have me, then that's the way it will be. I refuse to worship a God that would turn away someone with good intentions because of some ritual technicalities. I mean, if I am good but don't pray, and Saddam Hussein prays 6 times a day, does that mean I am not good enough for Allah? Or if I try to live an honest life, but don't accept Jesus as my savior, does that mean I am not good enough for God?

My morality has it's roots in Christianity, but is not dependent on it. I don't need a church to find community, or to tell me how to live. I don't need the cloak of spiritual mysticism to pursue a path of self awareness and betterment.

    Pity to those that do.

Carter never lied what he called the Israeli lobby so why would Israel greet him with open arms. He has been vocal about things that offend Israel.

My apologies, pizzaman. That was awfully rude of me to misconstrue what you believed to be a legitimate question as a rhetorical one.

Who are "us?" I was not aware you were part of a larger group.

Carter is very much anti-semitic in my opinion, because of his uneveness in dealing with Israel and the palestinians. His most recent book exemplifies this and solidifies even more that he is no longer a broker of peace, but an activist for one side.

14 members of his staff, some of which are Jewish (not sure if all were), resigned in protest to his outrageous twist of history and distortions. Carter's criticism, not unlike that of many here, is one way.

His book sparked outrage among Jewish leaders for it's inaccuracies, which have since been corrected. Carter claimed he wrote the book to spark debate (dishonesty always does), yet when Carter was given an opportunity to do just that...debate his book with Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, he ducked his tail and ran.

There is a reason for this "selling out" though. It didn't just happen miraculously. Carter has long been the recipient of funding from countries and individuals that are hostile to Israel. Tens of millions of dollars have gone into his foundation from enemies of Israel. This isn't a coincidence.

There are so many sources on this subject, that it wouldn't do justice to point out a few. A simple search in Google can provide months of reading on the subject.

    Huh?

You wont gain my respect by being religious. I respect people based on their words and deeds.

i am very much interested in discussing this and i am leaning against calling president carter antisemitic.
i agree that carter probably is not in agreement with the Israeli govt policy on some issues, but how does that make him antisemitic. i really am not prepared to give up the right to be for or against any govt of any country anywhere in the world, and that includes israel. unless you want to have acceptable and unacceptable level of antisemitism. how can you make a disagreement with a govt of any country unacceptable in a democratic country.
lets even assume he wants to be an advocate for the palestanians to reach peace. that still would not make him antisemitic .would it? how could it?
