Israel is denying Palestinians access to even the basic minimum of clean, safe water, Amnesty International says. In a report, the human rights group says Israeli water restrictions discriminate against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. It says that in Gaza, Israel's blockade has brought the water and sewage system to "crisis point". In the 112-page report, Amnesty says that on average Palestinian daily water consumption reaches 70 litres a day, compared with 300 litres for the Israelis. Amnesty says that Israel denies West Bank Palestinians to dig wells, and has even destroyed cisterns and impounded water tankers. At the same time, the report claims, Israeli settlers are enjoying swimming pools and green gardens. It adds that Israel uses more than 80% of the water from the Mountain Aquifer - the main source of underground water in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. more : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8327188.stm
Always trying anything possible to make Palestinians surrender, and give up their rights on their own land, much like Gaza before 2009 war and before Hamas fire rockets which Israel used them later as an excuse to kill more Palestinians, they cut food, water, medicine, following a policy of "starvation just little before death" Amnesty is doing great job there in exposing Israel's crimes, that's why Amnesty joined the huge group of those who been falsely accused of antisemitism.
As my post was removed by a moderator for stating this is "disgusting" and I was given an infraction, I will repost just that. It's disgusting that such a basic resource is being to the Palestinians by the Israeli's. There is no valid reason for this, not all Palestinians are terrorists therefore it's not ok to fuck them over.
Yes I agree with you and second this , that it is disgusting . This act must be against "terrorists" ... They must trying to push out of " promised lands" which "belongs only to jews " .
Looks like the report isn't accurate http://www.turkishweekly.net/news/9...idn-39-t-consult-us-over-critical-report.html A Turkish newspaper A bad news report about Israel Lets open a thread on DP
LOL The quality of the BBC reports on the conflict are known to be very zionist oriented As was satirized on Israeli TV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sWcAawkvM0
let me clarify what you said: isreal (like always) does not agree with the findings of a report which had found it responsible for crimes aganist Palestinians and you are wrong to think that posting meaningless pictures will take the attention of readers away from isreali crimes try again
Blah blah blah. If you read the article it's obviously biased and has a political agenda. Also Israelis living in Israel have every right to use as much water as they want.
wow! that's a revelation since the report does not suit your interest so it is 'obviously biased'! the report does have a humanitarian agenda, It highlights the plight, sufferings and sub-human treatment that Palestinians are suffering .. yes, all rights are for isrelais ...Palestinians don't have any rights it is right of isrelais to starve Palestinians with thirst while watering their swimming pools and green lands!
Hopefully Palistinian people will take their basic human rights. failure of huminity is the zionist jewish country.
Maybe they will rise up and put a stop to the terrorists and live peacably amongst other people. You know if you quit trying to kill people they tend to leave you alone. Why is this so hard to understand. Maybe because the brainwashing starts as a small child "kill the Jew"
The Turkish newspaper reported a story from the "Water Authority", the story is not Turkish opinion nor it is stating the facts as Turkey sees them, it's a piece from the "Water Authority" in response to Amnesty International report. Where is the "Water Authority" based? Not at all it's bad for both Israel (a country) and Palestinians (people).
water is being denied to Palestinians as whole .. not to those who you call 'terrorists' so your point actually does not hold here or do you think whole population is terrorist .. is this why their water is being 'regulated' I thought that even prisoners, murders, rapists, bandits, dug lords and all scums of the earth have right to water and food ? don't you think so do they starve the prisoners over there in USA?
You can support zionist jews as you wish and you can blind yourself about the begining of the story. I can support justice and huminity and I can read the stroy from the begining.
Neither one of you has the capability to understand simple concepts. Are they dying from lack of water? no. Should they be allowed the necessary water? Yes. Should they keep allowing their buddies, friends, cousins, uncles, brothers to lob bombs and provide suicide bombers? NO. Would Israel being easier to deal with if they weren't being physically attacked by those crying for help?
So you say it is ok( Cutting of the water supplie , or to minimize it ) , if no one is dying from lack of water ? So it is ok to confiscate tankers too ? Water is a basic need and a right .. so we not going to say thanks ,even no one died from lack of the water
yes, isreal is always right if it is blocking water than that too is fault of Palestinians why do you fail to condemn the shameful restrictions on water that have been put in place by isreal yes, they are not dying , but they are being made to suffer and forced to live a humiliating life where they are not even free to have water by their own choice try answering what I had asked above do you have any logic or rhetoric by which blocking or limiting water to a population is justified ?
I have read from one of the forums this : Is it the way to punish everyone .. massive punishment .. --- Amira Hess, an Israeli journalist wrote: “ Since the June War of 1967, Israel has total control over Palestinian water resources. Israeli governments have prohibited the digging of wells and restricted irrigation to its pre-1967 levels, thus, keeping Palestinian crops dependent on rainwater. The fact is we can not accuse the settlers, for all Israeli governments from that of Levi Ashqol in 1967 to that of Yitzhaq Rabin in 1992, have adopted policies of devastation designed to dry-up Palestinian cities and villagesâ€. On 17 June 1967, Military Order 92 was issued. It covered the following: a-All water resources in Gaza and the West Bank are considered government property; b-All permits for artesian wells are cancelled; c-All information or data regarding water resources is strictly classified. On 15 August 1967, Military Order was issued placing all authority over water matters, exclusively, in the hands of a military officer. Military Order 1015 issued on 27 July 1982 and was amended by Military Order 1039 on 5 December 1982 determined the nature and quantity of crops Palestinians may plant, especially, in irrigated parts. It also demanded that Palestinian farmers reduce their crops to lessen water consumption . Similarly, in the Gaza Strip, two Military Orders were issued declaring water resources governmental and ordering Palestinians to seek permission from the military governor for any project involving water. Dr. Paul Korch wrote in Middle Right: “Since the occupation of the Palestinian territories by Israel the military authorities did not grant a permit to a single village to dig any wells. Between 1967 and 1983 only seven wells were allowed and those were for domestic consumption Thomas Stouffer, an American writer, wrote: “ Israeli covetousness for Arab waters is an integral part of its strategy regarding resources including oil, minerals and commercial competition to acquire cheap labor and other economical resources in addition to water. Israeli pillage of water from the territories it occupied in 1967 does not only cover its ever-increasing needs but it saves Israel the trouble to seek alternative water resources which may cost her as much as 2 billion US dollars… Israeli withdrawal from the territories it occupied in 1967 means relinquishing war spoils
