I just got an interesting email today. It appears that somebody tried to buy my product and couldn't get the clickbank order form to load. This isn't the first time it's happened but I was intrigued. I asked him to go to proxy.org and pick some proxies to see if it would load through them... and it did. He was with comcast, but now I'm wondering how many ISP's have blocked clickbank? It seems weird that they would do this, but if anyone has had an experience similar to this I'd love to hear about it. There's not much we can do about it I guess, but I wonder how many potential sales I've lost because their ISP is blocking clickbank?
Are you sure about that? That seems insane to me that an ISP would block clickbank. Are you sure they were not at work or school? (not sure why they would have clickbank blocked either but it seems more likely.)
I'm on comcast and I have no problem getting on clickbanks main site. I think Zibblu probably has the more accurate explanation. I know some employers try to block their employees from doing any online shopping.
You're probably right, it seemed rather weird to me that an ISP would block clickbank, but he was emailing from home. Anyways, I'll grill him some more and see what I find out.
I don't think it's the ISP but an anti-spyware program blocking access. I use Advanced Windows care (free version from IObit) and it flags clickbank.net as spyware. There were issues with Spybot and McAfee a while ago but that seems to have been resolved -- But there are still a couple softwares out there that can cause a blank order page. The other reason could be that the order page times out or the CB server might be slow to get it loading. This has happened in the recent past and documented by CB as well in their System Log.
I would agree with this. I have found with SpyBot for eg, that many affiliate sites/cookies/redirections do not work anymore. A simple test for those who want to try it out, install latest Spybot with full updates. Accept all defaults including host changes etc. Try accessing a Commission Junction affiliate page.
You guys were right. It's a spyware/antivirus program. I don't know why I didn't think of that... I guess moving sites to a new server will leave you asking questions without thinking first
